Letters to Leonard

Hey,
I just wanted to inform everyone of one thing that NHS is doing to give back in another part of the world. Also, this is an opportunity for you to get rid of a demerit if you so choose.

This is Leonard. He lives in Cameroon in North Western Africa. Through Plan USA, NHS sponsers Leonard and his family. With our donations, Leonard is able to attend school, learn about health and hygeine from Plan USA workers in Cameroon, and get necessary supplies like mosquito netting. Also, his parents, who are both peasant farmers, recieve training to make their farming more efficient and earth-friendly.
Leonard speaks a language called Bakoum and lives in the Paki community of Cameroon. He is Christian and celebrates Christmas as well as other Chirstian holidays. He enjoys playing soccer with his friends. Leonard is 14 years old. His birthday is October 13, 1995.
Leonard is currently attending a secondary school 5 km away from his home. It takes him approx. 45 minutes to get to school every day. He lives with his parents Ferdinand and Pelagie and his younger sister Gulene on their family farm. The family gets their water supply from nearby water sources like rivers and streams and the nearest health facility is about 45 minutes away.
Some of the money NHS raises through fundraisers goes towards our yearly donation to help Leonard and his family. If you would like to earn back demerits, you can write letters to Leonard. If you are interested, please talk to Morinville for more information.
Thank you!

Leeja
